The Ahmedabad Stock Exchange was a stately edifice that previously served as the home of the Ahmedabad Stockbroker's Association. Despite the Stock Exchange having relocated, this building is still worth visiting because of its charming façade, which combines Indian ornamental elements and neo-classical architectural aspects.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Ahmedabad experienced tremendous growth as a hub for textile manufacturing. As a result, one of the nation's first stock exchanges was established in 1894. The Bombay Stock Exchange was founded in 1875, and the stock exchange was first founded as a Public Charitable Trust in 1894.
Constructed in 1919, the structure served as the stock market until the 1990s, when it was relocated to the Kamdhenu Complex in Panjarapol.
The building has a striking façade decorated with flowers, reminiscent of European architecture. The balconies designed in the jharoka style exhibit the classical style as well. The building's later additions feature features of Art Deco design.
One of Ahmedabad's oldest pols, Mahurat Pol, is facing the structure.
