Sheth Maneklal Jethabhai Pustakalaya, popularly known as M.J. Library, was built in the 1930s and is one of Ahmedabad's biggest libraries, housing over seven lakh books in addition to a mobile library. Mahatma Gandhi laid the cornerstone of the M.J. Library in 1933 AD. The renowned person Rasiklal Maneklal gave money to erect the building. 7000 books that are still in good condition were presented to the library by Mahatma Gandhi, and Swami Akhandanand also made contributions.

The library building is built in the Indo-Saracenic or Indo-Gothic architectural style, with exposed bricks, painted concrete, and eaves with elaborate grills, much like the neighboring Town Hall.
This structure still maintains the tidy arrangement that Claude Batley's design principles highlighted. The massive dome that elevates this structure to the status of a notable landmark is its pièce de résistance. The library building's various sections can be accessed through the center hall, which features exquisite tilework and additional decorations.

The Rajputana colonial architectural style was used to design the library's structure. The white Rajasthan marbles evoke in guests a sense of wisdom and tranquility.
