Located close to the well-known Hanuman Mandir in the Ahmedabad cantonment region lies the historic and little-known St. George's Church. The church is the oldest in the city and was constructed in 1880 as a garrison church for local Indian Christians and military personnel by the British government. the church's cornerstones state that major general J. W. Schneider placed them there on September 22, 1880.
